torchsongs trio represents the core group from Udden’s Fresh Sound release torchsongs (featuring Udden/Monder/Ravitz with Bob Brookmeyer, Matt Wilson, Leo Genovese, Garth Stevenson, Tim Miller, Nathan Blehar, and John Lockwood).  Here’s a clip of the trio + saxophonist Dan Blake playing Steve Lacy’s “Esteem” at a recent  live performance in Brooklyn.  Both Udden and Blake were students of Mr. Lacy in’02-’03.  *note:  hit the “pause” button next to “Launch Music Player” to hear just this track.
